send press kits, cds & bios to
lvma 10
po box 21721
lehigh valley, pa 18002-1721

and all will be reviewed.
we also ask venues and various people that we network with.

a venue nominated "mad conductor" and they went on to win "best original band".

we also posted a notice on this website and sent out press releases asking for nominations & suggestions.

and unlike the majority of music award shows, the lvma has a write-in vote for anyone we missed.

suggestions?

LVMA, what an incredible event. Out of all the places I've lived this is a true Mecca for musicians. I'm so grateful to be included in this community. I want to thank Ian for being an unstoppable force in running this event, as well as everybody else who commits themselves to help out.
On a personal note, I want to thank the family of Al Guerrero for continuing support of the award that I, together with Rob Fraser, was honored to win this year.
Thank you all the people who have a positive attitude towards LVMA.

Dear LVMA,
I'm thrilled to have won this years LVMA "Best Acoustic Guitarist" award. It's truly a honor to be nominated along with so many other talented players. Special thanks to Martin Guitars and Dick Boak for their sponsorship. I also want to thank Ian for his continuing support, hard work and dedication to promoting the local music scene.

Sincerely,

To all at LVMA,

I am honored to have been named in this year's LVMA. There are many wonderful players in those catagories whom I have enjoyed listening to and I believe all have something positive to say through their music. Thanks to all who voted and a special Thank You to the sponsors of Piano and Keyboard, namely, Women's Blues Alliance and Dave Phillips Music and Sound. Thanks to your organization for sponsoring and maintaining this website and all those who helped make the show happen.

Sincerely,

Craig Kastelnik

Thank you to Jan and Tommy Zito for their kind words in their message posted here November 12 regarding my brother Butch's passing. Butch was a part of the Lehigh Valley musical community for many years and is certainly missed. Thanks to all who helped us through this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Craig Kastelnik

Whitney Peyton

December 9, 2007

hey! thanks everyone who just complimented my performance since my last post in this guestbook! Amanda.. I really enjoyed your performance as well.. congrats for taking home so many awards! You deserved it! I also had fun watching the other artists(though every single act was SO different from my own genre I still left very inspired and I picked up some performance skills from seeing everyone).

I read JLK's comment.. and I agree there was a great deal of talking going on during performances BUT I don't agree that it was mostly negative. I myself was whispering to people sitting next to me during performances, but it consisted of things like "hes really good", "I like her style", or "this song is awesome!".

thanks again LVMA!!

December 7, 2007

yo kate lady
did some people actually boo??? if so how sad, i didn't hear that, just some talk
during performances, which was
uncool since there was a back section, hallway
and outdoor deck for those who wanted to talk, smoke & joke.
my fave shows, missed some because i was running about. Whitney Peyton was wonderful, a forming STAR, Main Street Cruisers were beautiful, Lenny was one of the best singers, don't know the song, but he got me by the ears & heart, Tommy Zito & crew were hitting it (Merv Griffin & Russell of The Meadows were way right on Tommy, Jake has a great song, 100%????
and GAVE it good, Mr. Dave Fry
entertaining, Glenn Wasserman burned the guitar and Mike Dugan was CLEAN & bluefully pure. KEF?
all they need is a great producer, the bass player's vocals were SOUL ON FIRE (blessed me good). Billy Bauer way good. and i'm a big fan of 2 AM and The Saint Cloud.

The LVMA keeps on cookin because of 3 main women, Amanda of www.paintedsong.com, Gloria of www.wiaipa.org and Tina of The Funhouse. without them i doubt that the lehigh valley music awards would be.

Thanks to ALL the great sponsors and gift givers, please take a few minutes and check them out. (on the menu)

And i hope the Award Winners will follow Jim Meyers example and thank
the people who sponsored their Award(s) and Gift(s).

my plan is to produce the lvma for four more years, then say audios amigos....

Kate

December 7, 2007

Nice job. The event was a lot of fun and was great to hear the amazing talent we have in the Lehigh Valley.
For those that booed as others won awards, that's just crazy. Everyone should be happy for the winners and it's not the grammys! Get over it!
Amanda Thorpe was amazing and enjoyed the different types of music. Great entertainment from Whitney.

Thanks to Ian Bruce for putting this thing together, and thanks to all the clients & fans who gave me the producer and studio awards again this year, and thanks to all the fans who gave The Mad Conductor best original band.

Sorry I missed the ceremony once again, but, this year (as last), I was working in the studio.

Making more of that award-winning music.

Ian, You are funny! It was nice meeting you, too! What a guy! What you are doing is INCREDIBLE! I will (if I get another chance) have a better idea what's going on. I heard lots of my OTCGers didn't really understand! Next time I'll sell it better because I know what's up. Also, I'll try to hide my "package" better. (Did you get their phone numbers?) My ad didn't make it into the program, but it was a blast! I was thinking the ad would be the publicity, but I guess I was! I don't get upset about life. I try to do something about it. I think you do, too! It was great meeting Gloria, and you are right, she is awesome! Thanks, and Peace, Fred www.offthecouchgang.com

2AM

December 6, 2007

"2AM" was honored to be nominated for awards this year. Thanks to everyone who supported us. We and our guests really enjoyed the eclectic performances at LVMA! The awards show was our first opportunity to hear many of these musicians...Whitney Peyton and Amanda Thorpe were AWESOME -- loved the personality in Whitney's performance, and Amanda earned every award she took home (Congrats Amanda!). Dave Cahill made us sit up and pay attention! Wow. That was some sweet guitar playing!! From The St. Cloud through Tommy Zito -- there was not one performance we did not genuinely enjoy.

This was our second year performing at LVMA and we hope you'll have us back next year. For musicians in the Lehigh Valley, the awards show is really a neat thing. For us -- it's one of the few venues where we can meet other LV talent, perform in front of our MUSICAL peers instead of our teenage peers, and get the kind of experience that bumps our own performance up a notch. This is a great venue for learning from each other -- we need more of this.

We had fun. Thanks for having us. PEACE !

December 6, 2007

Hi

Yes, we agree with the rest, we had a blast. This is the third year we were able to attend and besides really enjoying the performances this year, it's always a heartwarming treat to talk to other performers and friends that we don't often get a chance to see and a pleasure to have met some wonderful new friends. We also can't say enough, how much we appreciate the hard work that goes into this event and think Ian, Gloria and the rest deserve and should get the BIGGEST award, for their continued dedication. Thank-you for having us and thanks for the Special Music Award honor. It was very much appreciated.

Ian

Thanks so much for including us in the awards show. We had a blast and even though we didn't win anything I am sure that they will not soon forget who The Main Street Cruisers are. the Morning Call wants to do a feature on us and I made some wonderful contacts. I hope you will count on me to help out for next year as well as I am only too happy to lend a hand. ( I am a pretty good arm twister when it comes to getting donations to).

Thanks again and if you run across anyone that is looking for a good show band send them my way!!

Hey Ian! I was really dissapointed to have been unable to make it this year to the LVMA. But that doesn't take away from my appreciation of all that you and your team put into making it happen. Thank you for being such a support to a beautiful (and ever evolving) music scene. I think what you do goes a long way in supporting, inspiring, and creating community. Here's a big pat on the back for you and everyone who worked so hard to make it all happen. Cheers, ~C

Wow, I guess I missed all that. I thought the LVMAS were very enjoyable. My family had a good time & enjoyed the entertainment. As far as young people go, they will always make fun of people over 35, no matter where you are--its like an unwritten rule (we're ancient!). I do agree that there is no need to be rude (maybe they will learn that with maturity) but hopefully you could still enjoy yourself. I also know that my daughter, Whitney, had to leave after her performance to take the young boy dancers back home for school the next day. She definitely appreciated being there & meeting everyone. Blessings to you & your family!

JLK

December 4, 2007

Talk about lack of manners and common courtesy.
I attended the LV Music Awards, sat back to relax and was shocked and saddened at the rude behavior and inappropriate comments made by some attendees.
I not only saw for myself but, heard remarks made by others who agreed on how rude some of the attendees, performers and their friends were. While on stage a couple of young performers expected audience attention, yet could not show the same respect to those who followed. Snickers and ignorant comments were made about any following group with members over the age of 35 and of music styles different from their own. They were carrying on and talking so loudly, people sitting even closer to the stage, could not enjoy the performances and as a result people got up and left because of it.

A couple others just waited for their award category to be announced, snubbed everyone and left without showing any kind of acknowledgment or support for their peers. How disrespectful is that? These are obviously people who have no idea what mutual respect and musician camaraderie are because their ego won't allow them to sit and enjoy the talent of others for, in their own mind, they are better than everyone else. If this sounds like you, to gain a little better perspective before your head gets to big, I suggest you take a long look at what a tiny speck the Lehigh Valley is on the great big map and make the according attitude adjustment. There is no room in the music industry or at the awards for this sort of behavior and you will soon learn, people with egos and disrespect for fellow musicians usually don't get to far in the business, talent or not. Some LV performers and nominees have talent and experience you would do well by learning from, if you could humble yourself to notice, and have been places you will only hope to get unless you wise up. Keep in mind, you may be bashing the very musicians who voted for you and who could very easily not next year.

Comments were also made by a few other small minded people who think they could do a better job at running the awards yet, haven't the slightest idea what it takes to plan and execute an event like that. In addition, they felt votes were rigged. How ridiculous considering the votes are done by an unbiased independent party and tallied by a program. What is wrong with you? Many areas don't even have music awards or people who care enough to organize one so you should be grateful yours does. The Lehigh Valley Music Awards exist because of a handful of selfless hardworking people who do care and were dedicated enough to create an event to honor your accomplishments, talent and those of your fellow artists so if all you plan on doing is bashing, criticizing and ruining the night for others, who have to put up with you, do us all a favor and grow up or stay home next year.

All in all, despite the behavior of a handful, the awards were well planned as usual, ran smoothly and all the rest of us had an awesome time. Good job to all involved.

Whitney Peyton

ian,,9 years ago lvmas started as an infant,,creeped into adolesence and now is a soaring teenager..by the 10th year with a little help from our friends,,,we will be a flying adult !!! well you get the point,,,to have started this years ago on a thread and about 100 people and to have achieved what the lvmas are today...goes to prove a pooint that artist love being recognized by their peers,,their, fans and the community..and thats what we are all about...in the end we know we did a great job,,nothing can exist without improvements,,,so we are open to your comments if they are constructive and not malice..over all....the lvmas is a great platform for the valleys very talented people...on a last note....seems like the harder the competion becomes year after the year,,the more critical the musicians are...just a thought,,
thank you for the opportunity to work with such a devoted and caring bunch of people and the opportunity to meet the valleys finest!!!!dont ever sweat the small stuff and in the end,,,its all small stuff anyway!!!
blessings,,,and many thanks,,gloria

December 3, 2007

yo amanda
it's only a few people
who get wacky, it's kind of funny that no one mentions the wonderful support we got from lv biz that donated some amazing gifts for this year's award winners. (thanks to mark guttman and ian making calls).

like ricky nelson sang, "you can't please
everyone you got to pleased your self"

i'm pleased.

we are honoring lv music treasures tommy zito, mike dugan, steve brosky, dave fry and jake kaligis and spotlighting new acts
like brittany ann, amanda thorpe, whitney peyton, the saint cloud, main street cruisers, rayz b kayn, billy bauer band
and funny man dave of nazareth.

do you know how many different varieties of assholes i have to deal with???? some people complained that todd wolfe and sarah ayers WIN TOO MANY AWARDS and that maybe they should not be allowed to win 2 years in a row. that we should give an award to anyone who is nominated. that so & so is the best this or that and why don't we tell people that. or the band that was insulted that i said they could open or close the lvma one year
because those were the only two spots open.
or the host who didn't show last year because he had "issues", which he never told us about or what the "issues" were, still hasn't and then wanted to be "our friend on myspace".

the lehigh valley music awards isn't perfect, but we have heart and we run a clean voting process.

it's not my job to chase after musicians to get them to post songs, photos, etc.

the site is up all year
and if musicians want to get involved by showing there stuff, or emailing us with their accomplishments, that is all fine. that's the best way to get our attention.

i have to deal with musicians who try to rig the voting rules,
i couldn't believe that someone who is a respected musician set up lv cities and zip codes last year and mailed them to his nationwide fans & friends, telling them to use them so their votes would qualify.

and when we had the option of the paper ballot or the online ballot there was a handful who tried to vote twice, that's why we went to online only.

o, lord, i'm just a poor boy who works hard, all i can say
to any monkey brain mother hating non stop
moron is, GET FUNKED.

i'm going to listen to some good music, drink some wine and make love with my lover.

Amanda

December 2, 2007

Thank you, SJK.
The LVMAs are put together by, literally, a handfull of people, each with a world of limitations..and flaws. The root of the event, is ultimately to show how much we love the musicians in the valley. It is an event that has ONLY happened 8 times so far....each year it is a little better than the last. We are constantly learning. It would really be awesome if people could look beyond themselves a little and really see that this is such a great thing for the music community, as a whole. We have AWESOME talent. The LVMA "handfull" works really, really, really, really hard to provide a fair and honest nominating and voting process (to the best of our abilities)...so the musicians and music related businesses can be recognized in the way they deserve. This event was built from LOVE...and it needs to be nurtured and cherished, for it to grow to what people expect it to be.
Forgive me for the long entry.... but it saddens me, hugely, that people are attacking a system that was designed to reward and recognize the people who bust their bottoms for MUSIC!!!!!
Peace and love.....

To All The Workers, Volunteers, And Performers Involved In LVMA 9…The Difficult And Sometimes Trying Consequences Inherent In Award Shows Are Legendary…Those Things That One Works Hard On Are The Only Things Worth Notice…Easy Is Apathy (and more), Hard Is Courageous (and singular)…In The End Smiles Are The True Reward!…Bless You, Yours And All You Do For Others!…

I couldn't believe the venom from John K.
Why couldn't he email you like the others did?

I believe a guestbook writer, like a guest in your house, should show good manners and be thankful for the opportunity to communicate in a reasonable way. The LVMA didn't do anything on purpose to keep him from voting, unlike Florida & Ohio in the elections for President.

By the way I love most of the songs that you have in the music section and I ADORE
the photo of eighteenth
hour by Shery Baynes.
A good looking band with a huggable sound.

May the Love of Jesus be with everyone as we approach the Holiday.

Is it alright to ask that?

ian

November 30, 2007

thanks sandy.

the site had to be reset twice and it was closed for 5 to 10 minutes at times.

the people who called me and/or emailed me,
including todd wolfe,
alexxis steele and a few others were then notified when it was back.

next year i'll make sure that the phone and email is right under the links for better communication,
i'm still waiting for the morning call to call me back. i'm still waiting for len righi to apologize to me, i'm still waiting for aaron sagers merge/mornimg call to correct the statement that we banned the fux.

ask the morning call to even tell you how many people voted in the reader's choice awards and how many votes different biz got? they won't tell you. they're ashamed to let the public know how crooked that deal is.

Sandy

November 30, 2007

I think the Lehigh Valley really appreciates their musicians. The media, the venues, and of course, the awards show proves that. Ian, I give you alot of credit for all of your work on this. The awards show does mean alot to the musicians who work hard to be recognized & appreciated. I'm not a musician--I don't even live in the Lehigh Valley but I think a "thank you" is more in order (not complaints or sour grapes)! Lifes too short, people!

John Kacmarcik

November 30, 2007

I got emails from Nominees with links that did NOT work before the deadline. Whatever... I hope you all have a great time. Fox hat won't be there this year. Happy Holidays! Sorry for expressing my disappointment in this site now and before the deadline.

ian

November 30, 2007

john
we sent out press releases to all major and most minor media in the area, the deadline was midnight on nov. 28th.

fan ballot part 2 was extended by 2 days.
(because of my programming error).

we had a click link on for both fan & ballot, that went down at midnight 11-28-07

if a person can't copy & paste then what can i do?

i went to the new music seminar in nyc years ago, at least 8,000 musicians & related were there.

i was one of the handful who READ their daily paper and saw that there was an open house with warner/chappel publishing, they had a great suite, free food & free drinks and one to one with their a&r people..THEY COULDN"T BELIEVE HOW FEW PEOPLE CAME, i said, what do you expect? musicians aer too busy being "famous" to read.

A song by destroyer got picked up because i could read.
(the song was later dropped). but i READ the opportunity and i was there.

the morning call misprinted the lvma 9 date for this year, they had wed. dec. 5th,
as soon as i was told that, i called and asked them to correct it.

it doesn't take a rocket scientist to read, copy & paste and click contact info, etc.

at least you were please with the lvma 8 last year, scroll down and read how much you enjoyed it...and the guy with the fox hat.
blessings
ian going to sleep at 1:57 pm.

by the way we had a person who thought midnight was noon (not kidding), where is a 5th grader when you need one...

John Kacmarcik

November 30, 2007

You need to have someone who knows how to make a web page! A clickable link is not rocket science! The link you posted asked me 2 questions. CD cover & lyrics! I don't have time to read your whole site! It should be easy!

john, 2065 people figured out how to vote, it is lvmusicawards.org not .com

dec. 4th, lvma 8 was last year.

i think a little patience and reading
would help you out.

,com is a site we have no control over and the webmaster for that site is m.i.a., that was last year--- if you took the time to read. and if you took the time to read, my email & cell phone is
on that page.

if you're not going to perform please let steve brosky know, he's real good solo, duo and/or band.

I guess you don't want people to vote! I got SO MANY folks telling me they couldn't figure out where to vote! I can't either! You have the wrong date on the .com site! 4th! I ashamed to have to play there with Brosky as this is so unorganized! These awards mean nothing.

I would like to suggest that next year you add a button on your site for voting, instead of just the html address. Alot of people thought your could use a little more pizazz and been more clear as to how to vote. Also a page that showed how the votes were going on a day to day basis would be nice as well

in reply to the previous post (i usually don't post "feedback" unless it comes with a name and email, but i wanted to respond...)

in music & show biz in general what turns one person on can be a turn off for many. barry manilow? i love larry david's "curb your enthusiasm", my friend leaves the room if it is on.

personally i rather listen to the "crooner", i like it.

does not the sun shine on all and the earth carry everyone?

we can't list nominees unless we know about them, for example one guitarist & his wife stated that "he is the best", well the best gets 3 to 10 votes per year; i sound great in the shower, but i am the only one listening.

are there female or male vocalists that were missed?
please tell us and we'll check them out.

some people love rap/hip-hop some hate it, same with polka.
i can enjoy both if it is good. variety is the spice of music...

take it easy, it makes everyone feel better.

Good luck to all the nominees.

We love what you are doing for the LV music scene and most of your nominees are truly talented musicians of the highest caliber. That being said, I must say we're very disappointed in the female vocalist category. To see a talent like Sara Ayers compared to a "crooner" whose voice limits her to singing only 50's cover songs is a travesty. There should be some sort of standard before being nominated. There are MANY talented female vocalists not even on here and to see someone who only covers songs that really don't stretch you as a vocalist listed as a nominee is disheartening at best. How is one nominated?

Is there no category for Lyricist this year?

our ballot master, an outside source, has a serious problem with the software ballot program. tech support hasn;t gotten back to him, meanwhile we are working on plan b - redoing the ballots using another system.
one way or another the ballots will be up. happy thanksgiving.

Just a note to take up space until the voting links are up...The image submitted of Todd Wolfe is traditional black and white (tMax 3200, the grain kicks ass in black and white), toned traditionally as well, printed while listening to actual VINYL records. The combination of actual FILM and Vinyl records, used in conjunction, literally created a time warp, causing my entire block to turn Black and White...at least until I took a digital photograph of a CD, which thankfully, restored colour to the neighborhood...

cheers all, and many thanks to all the Lehigh Valley Musicians whose spirit and creativity bring life to our artistic community.

November 12, 2007

This isn't about the music awards but, didn't know where else to post and thought you might want to know that it has not been a good month for some of the Lehigh Valley's own.

Our heart felt sympathy goes out to Craig, Patty and the Kastelnik family on the tragic loss of Butch Kastelnik, another great Lehigh Valley performer. We also send our prayers, for a speedy recovery, to Steve Molchany who was not only seriously injured in a recent car accident but, lost his Mother the day after and to Tom Makoul who is recovering from a heart attack and surgery. Our hearts and prayers, and those of all your friends and fellow musicians, are with you. Love, Jan & Tommy Zito

Bono, the lead singer of the band U2, is famous throughout the
entertainment industry for being more than just a little self-righteous

At a recent U2 concert in Glasgow, Scotland, he asked the audience for
total quiet.

Then, in the silence, he started to slowly clap his hands, once every
few seconds.

Holding the audience total silence, he said into the microphone, "Every
time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies."

A voice in a broad Scottish accent from the front of the crowd pierced
the quiet. ..

"Well, fookin stop doin it then, ya evil basturd!"
